Using a variety of sources Including personal interviews, your task is to analyze the prospective public policy (policies) under discussion, explain why these proposals have such significance to its stakeholders and offer a sound reasoned opinion as to whether the proposed reforms and or policy direction (s) can achieve Its/their Intended purpose(s).

Requirements for completion of this assignment:

1. Your paper must demonstrate evidence of original research including interviews with stakeholders. A rehash of what is already written (IE: a summary of published articles) will not be satisfactory.

2. Make sure you read the issue well before you decide which one you will choose.
Your paper must include all the elements raised as well as additions brought forth by your research and interviews.

3. You must cite all quotes and statistics. Your paper must also have a bibliography at the end.

Section 1. The aid, care and support of the needy are public concerns and shall be provided by the state and by such of its subdivisions , and in such manner and by such means, as the legislature may

Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Stasio have put forth public policy agendas that have been labeled “progressive” in areas such as:minimum wage; paid family leave:and affordable housing.Conservatives point to tax and regulation policies that they say stunts economic and job growth.


Is Article XVII outdated and should government be responsible for reducing poverty?

You will have to explore the history and meaning of Article XVII and why it speaks to “New York values.” What is the government “safety net?” should the rote of government go beyond education and partnership with the nonprofit and private sectors (including tax policy and subsidies) in an effort to prevent or reduce poverty? Is compassion a failed social and economic policy? What are the unintended consequences of raising the minimum wage and imposing certain labor benefits on the private and nonprofit sectors? How should we measure outcomes? Is the current national mood a reflection of the public’s anger with policies that are not working or a dysfunctional government where politics continues to have a significant impact (adverse or otherwise)?
