Glaser HBR Case Study

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Each student will develop an answer to the discovery question

• Read the case study:
Glaser, J. P., Halvorson, G. C., Ford, M., & Heffner, R. (2007). Too far ahead of the IT curve

Discovery Question) Assume the role of consultant to this project. Use the following questions as a guide for your analysis of 400 – 600 words. Remember, there is no “right” answer – develop your view of the situation and defend it by using the evidence presented in the case.

•Examine the situation, what questions come to mind? What else do you need to know?
•What is the main issue or problem?
•What are your initial thoughts about the relevant issues and criteria involved?
•How would you suggest that Peachtree approach their problem (and it is more than training and user involvement)
•What was the range of decision options that they could consider?
•How might you apply ISTA, FITT, CAMM, or concepts of Lorenzi and Riley to devise a solution to this problem? ( Interactive Sociotechnical Analysis – ISTA, Fit between Individuals Task and Technology – FITT, Clinical Adoption Meta-Model – CAMM )

•This case considers a strategic decision related to IT infrastructure and brings us to the subject of standardization. This case is not about the technology itself. This course is not about hardware/software, but rather the people side of technology. POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED if you focus on the architecture as part of the solution; that is not the point of the assignment.
