Optimisation of dose / image quality and lesion detection performance in CR/DR/CT, led by Dr Andrew England

This research relates directly to general radiography imaging practice. We investigate and solve a range of clinical imaging problems and quandaries which face imaging practitioners on a daily basis. A major problem facing imaging practitioners concerns dose limitation whilst preserving image quality and lesion detection performance. This research theme spans a range of body parts / organs. Estimation of dose involves modelling and measurement. Image quality evaluation uses physical and psychophysical measures. Lesion detection performance draws on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) methodologies. Aspects of this research have a close relationship with student learning in our BSc Diagnostic Radiography.
