Decision Making Model: Step Three

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Instructions Please use the 2 files attached to this order to do this assignment.

This is the third of four written assignments in this course that will give you the opportunity to apply the 5-Step Decision Making Model to an authentic business scenario. The first assignment, submitted in Unit 1, asked you to define a significant problem currently facing your organization. The second assignment, submitted in Unit 2, asked you to identify the objectives in solving this problem. In this third assignment, you will complete Step 3 of the model: Identify & Analyze Available Options.

In a 2 double-spaced pages, identify at least three decision alternatives (or solutions) to the problem that you detailed in the first step. You may begin with a small paragraph (3-4 sentences at most) recounting the problem that you defined in Step 1 and the objectives you identified for solving the problem in Step 2.

However, the bulk of this assignment should be focused on identifying and analyzing the available solutions for solving that problem. Start by identifying three main decision alternatives or options for solving the problem. Briefly address how each alternative relates to the objectives you previously identified for solving this problem.

Step 3 requires you to consider multiple variables (taking into account both quantitative and qualitative factors for each variable) associated with each option. Continue by identifying and analyzing two or three variables for each of the three decision alternatives that you identified in the previous section. Only variables that are relevant to the decision should be considered. Thus, for each variable, explain exactly what makes the variable relevant and what effect the variable will have in terms of future decision points.

Finally, use the drawing tools in Microsoft Word to complete a decision tree. This Decision Tree illustrates exactly what you are required to do for this assignment:

There are 3 decision alternatives:
Install
Postpone
Study Some More
For each alternative, there are at least three variables.
Each variable leads to a final decision point.
