Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Examine the formal aspects of each piece (materials, style, composition, iconography, etc.), and analyze each example in relation to its historical and cultural context. Place particular emphasis on the political and religious systems that informed these works.

Format: Your paper should be structured as an essay with a central argument and supporting evidence. The paper should be 3 pages in length (double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, 1’’ margins). Pages containing endnotes and illustrations do not count towards the 3-page limit. A useful guide on how to write about art is Sylvan Barnet, A Short Guide to Writing About Art, which is on reserve at Morris Library.

Sources: Support your argument with ideas and specific references from your assigned readings and class notes. No further research is necessary. List your references at the end of your paper in the form of endnotes following the Chicago Manual of Style.
