Lab 6

Assignment Requirements

Public Opinion

Watch or listen to one of the following radio or television programs. Your task is to write a review about any one segment or story presented on one of these programs after reading at least one article from a national news publication (New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, or Wall Street Journal) on the same subject. Be sure to fully identify that article in your essay (URL and CMS citation).

You should comment on how valuable (or not) this kind of programming is for our political system. Is this something you think more Americans should pay attention to (since the ratings for these shows are very low compared to popular entertainment shows)?

For example: If there is a segment on illegal immigration – you would read an article in a newspaper or political magazine on the subject and compare them for effectiveness, quality of information etc. Your review should be 1-2 pages in length.

Select from this list – (I am willing to consider others by permission – but you may not use the Daily Show or other comedy news programs.) Some of these programs sometimes have non-political content please don’t use those segments for this assignment. (Some of these programs can be viewed online – others are broadcast and cable programs.)
